Evolution of an artist

Among many of my friends who are somewhere on the artist's path, the discussion often centers around the question "Is it art or is it craft?" I've  been thinking about the question for many years, and have decided that whether my work is perceived as art or craft is irrelevant to me.

I do, however, have a theory about what makes someone an artist rather than a craftsperson. I find there is an inner drive to create and grow and improve and learn and to not repeat work that distinguishes the artist from the craftsperson

Every artist and every art work needs skill, and that is the craft that is part of every artwork.
